Project: Large Urban Network Simulation Framework
Keywords: resource allocation, multi-agent auctions, statistical simulators
Goal: The ability to evaluate the benefits of the Surtrac control system at a potential deployment site.
Problems:
HIL simulation is expensive and time consuming
Existing commercial software-in-the-loop (SIL) frameworks at that time didn’t support distributed computing, and failed to scale well on large networks
Solution: Develop an alternative, efficient SIL architecture that scales well on large networks
Result:
The software package interfaces Surtrac controller software with existing commercial and open-source microsimulation packages
Surtrac efficacy can be tested before field deployment
Technical Contribution
- The formulation and development of an alternative, efficient SIL architecture that scales well on large networks
-
The open-source and commercial simulation frameworks are regularly used by RapidFlow (now Miovision)
